Warburtons to Expand Operations with New Distribution Facility
In a strategic move to enhance its distribution capabilities, UK bakery giant Warburtons has announced the lease of a new distribution and office facility near Bedford.
This state-of-the-art complex, still under development, spans 65,847 square feet and is part of the expansive 150-acre Symmetry Park scheme in Biggleswade, Bedfordshire. This facility will further Warburtons’ mission of maintaining efficiency and sustainability within their operations.
Warburtons, headquartered in Bolton, has secured a 25-year lease for the new facility, which will feature cutting-edge on-site EV charging stations and solar PV arrays. These sustainable features are part of Warburtons’ broader commitment to reducing their carbon footprint and promoting green energy.
The project, advised by Yorkshire-based law firm Gordons, is scheduled for completion by the third quarter of 2025. Gordons’ expertise and practical commercial guidance played a crucial role in finalising this pre-let agreement.
The bakery, known for producing over 2 million products daily across its 11 bakeries, operates a robust distribution network. From 18 depots, Warburtons ensures that fresh baked goods reach 18,500 stores across the United Kingdom each morning.
Furthermore, this new facility is expected to further streamline and strengthen these operations, allowing Warburtons to meet growing demand more effectively and efficiently.
