Ultra-Realistic Steaks To Be Made From Fungi

Adamo Foods, a UK-based food tech company on its route to develop meat-free steaks made from fungi has secured a funding of $620,000.

The clean label steaks are produced by Adamo from mycelium, through a proprietary fermentation process. Mycelium is the root structure of fungi and is a rich source of protein and fibre.

Three different organisations are responsible for the new funding Adamo received. The first is Innovate UK, (R&D department of the UK government),which awarded Adamo with one of its highly competitive Smart Grants.

The second investment is a venture capital fund from Beeches Group and the third funding was secured on winning the SHAKE Climate Change Competition 2022, that aims to support sustainable food innovations.

Adamo is currently planning a pilot launch next year, but only at select UK locations.
