SpiceBox Unveils New Organic Dal Range at Planet Organic

In a bold move set to shake up the organic ready-meal market, SpiceBox has announced the launch of its new range of handmade, organic dals, which will be available at Planet Organic stores next month.

This launch is the first major product rollout since SpiceBox’s acquisition by Borough Broth, an esteemed organic producer that has held organic certification since 2015.

The acquisition, completed last March, is part of Borough Broth’s broader mission to increase the availability of high-quality organic produce across the UK – a vision strongly supported by the company’s founder and Managing Director, who has been at the forefront of this organic movement.

SpiceBox, originally a popular Northeast London restaurant known for its flavorful vegetarian offerings, first entered the retail space in 2021. Despite its initial success, the brand faced challenges in achieving an organic product line due to pricing constraints.

However, the acquisition by Borough Broth has provided the necessary infrastructure and support to turn that vision into reality. All SpiceBox products are now crafted in Borough Broth Company’s state-of-the-art, fully organic production kitchen located in West London, ensuring that every ingredient meets the highest organic standards.

The founder of SpiceBox, who continues to lead the brand under its new ownership, expressed enthusiasm about the collaboration. They stated that this partnership is a perfect match. They share the same values and ambitions to elevate the quality of vegetarian ready meals.

Furthermore, they went on to express that working with Borough Broth has allowed them to finally create the organic products that they have always envisioned.

The new range launching at Planet Organic includes two Indian-inspired dal products – Organic Tarka Dal and Organic Moong Dal. Both dishes, steeped in traditional flavours and crafted with care, are designed to appeal to consumers seeking wholesome, convenient meals.

The dals will retail for £5.45, with a special 20% discount available throughout September to encourage customers to try the new offerings.

Reflecting on the inspiration behind the new range, the SpiceBox founder noted that her deep connection to Indian cuisine made it the natural starting point for the product line.

They explained that Indian food is their comfort zone, and they wanted to bring that authentic, home-cooked flavour to their customers. However, they also hinted at future plans to expand the range to include dishes from other culinary traditions, further broadening the brand’s appeal.

In discussing the broader trends in the food market, the founder pointed to the increasing demand for chilled ready meals and soups, driven by the modern consumer’s need for convenience.

People are more health-conscious than ever, and they know that eating more vegetables and cooking from scratch is ideal, but in truth, the reality is that not everyone has the time to cook every day. That’s where SpiceBox comes in. Their meals offer the flavour and nourishment of home-cooked food, but with the convenience of ready-to-eat products.

The new SpiceBox dals are positioned as high-quality, organic meals that stand out in the crowded convenience food market. They feature clean ingredient lists, are quick to heat, and provide a satisfying, nourishing meal option for busy consumers.

The founder also went on to express that they are incredibly proud of what they have created. These dals are not just meals – they’re an experience, combining traditional recipes with modern convenience, all while staying true to the company’s organic ethos.

In conjunction with the product launch, SpiceBox will also reveal a refreshed brand identity and a new website, offering customers the ability to purchase products directly online. The brand’s new tagline, “Ancient Wisdom. Modern Times,” encapsulates its philosophy of blending time-honoured culinary traditions with the needs of today’s fast-paced lifestyle.

What’s more, the new website is designed to enhance customer engagement, offering insights into the brand’s journey, product details, and easy online shopping.

As SpiceBox embarks on this new phase of growth, the brand’s commitment to quality, flavour, and ethical production remains unwavering. The launch of its organic dal range at Planet Organic is just the beginning of what promises to be an exciting journey.

With plans to expand into other cuisines and continuous innovation on the horizon, SpiceBox is poised to become a staple in the UK’s organic ready-meal market. The brand’s focus on providing nourishing, convenient, and 100% organic meals resonates with the growing number of consumers seeking healthier, more ethical food options.

This latest development underscores SpiceBox’s evolution from a beloved local restaurant to a significant player in the organic food industry, now backed by the expertise and resources of Borough Broth.

Together, they are set to bring a new level of quality and integrity to the convenience food sector, proving that it is possible to enjoy delicious, ready-made meals without compromising on health or ethics.
