Signature Flatbreads Marks 40th Anniversary with £150m Investment

Signature Flatbreads, a leading name in the bakery industry, is celebrating its 40th anniversary with a significant announcement – a £150 million investment plan aimed at expanding its product offerings and creating over 500 new jobs in the coming years.

This ambitious plan follows a previous £100 million investment and a year in which the company achieved a turnover of £200 million, underscoring its robust growth and market leadership.

The company’s journey began in 1984 when its late founder set out with a mission to introduce a diverse range of breads from around the world to the UK market.

From these humble beginnings, Signature Flatbreads has grown into a global powerhouse, baking over 2 billion breads annually and exporting to more than 70 countries from its bakeries in the United Kingdom and India. Despite its global reach, the company remains grounded in the family values that have been central to its success.

The joint chief executives, the sons of the founder, expressed their pride in continuing their father’s legacy, stating that they are so pleased to offer such a fabulous variety of breads today – breads that are versatile and essential in creating quick and wonderful meals for their customers.

Furthermore, they highlighted that the new investment is not only about expansion but also about maintaining the company’s relevance in a rapidly changing market. Their goal is to champion innovation and support their customers in their own growth plans.

As part of its 40th anniversary celebrations, Signature Flatbreads is focusing on its employees, with plans for a Lebanese-inspired meal, a company bake-off competition, and charity sporting events aimed at fostering team spirit.

Additionally, the company will launch a new website that chronicles its history and growth, further connecting with its customers and employees.

With over 2,000 employees, Signature Flatbreads supplies products to retail, quick service restaurants, and foodservice channels. The new jobs created by this investment will further strengthen the company’s ability to meet global demand while staying true to the values that have driven its success for four decades.

To conclude, as Signature Flatbreads looks to the future, its £150 million investment plan is a clear statement of intent: to continue leading the bakery industry while remaining rooted in the family values and teamwork that have been at the heart of its success.

The company’s journey from a small family bakery to a global leader is a testament to the power of vision, innovation, and a commitment to quality – values that will undoubtedly guide Signature Flatbreads through the next 40 years and beyond.
