MWS Scales Shine on BBC’s Inside the Factory Christmas Special

This Christmas, our PakChk Check Weigher took centre stage in an episode of the BBC’s Inside the Factory (Series 9, Episode 1), where presenter Cherry Healey explored the fascinating journey of how Long Clawson Dairy creates their iconic Stilton blue cheese.
Long Clawson Dairy is a cornerstone of British cheesemaking, renowned for its rich heritage and dedication to crafting exceptional Stilton cheese. As one of only a handful of dairies licensed to produce Stilton – a Protected Designation of Origin (PDO) product – they uphold a tradition that has kept cheese lovers happy for generations. We are delighted to play a role in this legacy, supplying innovative weighing solutions to support their meticulous production process.
In the episode, Cherry Healey rolled up her sleeves to experience the entire cheesemaking process, from curdling the milk to carefully weighing out the curds before they are placed into cylindrical tubs. The weighing stage is crucial, ensuring each tub is filled to the correct level so the blue mould can grow and the cheese matures to perfection.
This is where MWS stepped in. Cherry had a go at weighing the curds using our PakChk Check Weigher, which is equipped with our bespoke recipe formulation software. The software guides users by showing whether the tub is under or overfilled, and once the weight is spot-on, the screen turns green – a simple yet highly effective system to ensure accuracy and efficiency.
