MWS increases floor space by 1,500 sq ft to meet the growing demand for its UK manufactured weighing scales
MWS has added a new mezzanine floor to its factory space, which has increased the floor space by 1,500 sq. ft bringing the total to 17,000 sq. ft. During the installation, MWS also installed new LED lights in an on-going effort to improve the company’s carbon footprint.
The top floor of the mezzanine will be home to a new production cell for building small bench top platform scales and improved WIP stock management. The ground floor extension doubles the space for the service and calibration team which includes a dedicated weigh pad service bay plus an additional workshop for the systems department.
In addition to the newly created spaces, the Leicester-based factory includes a large, dedicated welding/fabrication area, two open plan offices over two floors, and a boardroom where MWS has held several successful seminars and training sessions for customers and partners to learn about new products.
In November 2022, MWS also moved its County Durham office to a larger location, increasing the space by 200% in order meet the needs of its rapidly growing client base in the north.
Andrew Clarke, Managing Director, MWS, commented, “The new space allows us to clearly define departmental workspaces. The new weigh pad workshop, systems space and production cell will improve the flow of work through the business, which is better for our teams and clients. I’d like to thank Juan Pardo from the Business Gateway Growth Hub who supported our application for a grant, as it enabled us to bring our plans forward.”
This comes as MWS has experienced a significant increase in sales of its UK manufactured weighing scales as well as an increase in new service and calibration contracts.
