KP Snacks Acquires Whole Earth Food, Expanding Healthier Product Portfolio
In a strategic move to bolster its portfolio, UK-based snack giant KP Snacks has announced its acquisition of Whole Earth Food from French food company Ecotone.
Whole Earth, a well-known brand of natural and nutritious nut butters in the United Kingdom since 2003, also boasts a presence in major European markets, including Germany, the Netherlands, France, Spain, and Italy.
The acquisition will see Whole Earth Food joining a range of iconic brands under KP Snacks, part of the German Intersnack Group.
KP Snacks, renowned for its crisps and nut brands such as McCoy’s, Hula Hoops, Tyrrells, Butterkist, KP Nuts, POM-BEAR, Popchips, and Skips, operates with a strong workforce of over 2,200 employees across seven manufacturing sites and its head office in Slough.
Additionally, the company produces private-label snack products for major UK retailers, underlining its prominent role in the British food manufacturing sector.
While financial specifics and a projected completion date remain undisclosed, KP Snacks’ CEO expressed enthusiasm about the new acquisition, describing Whole Earth Food as a fantastic addition to the company’s line of healthier, high-quality snack products.
Furthermore, they highlighted that Whole Earth’s reputation for quality and commitment to nutritious food aligns well with KP Snacks’ sustainable business practices, enhancing their portfolio’s appeal to health-conscious consumers.
Ecotone, headquartered in Lyon, France, has been the driving force behind Whole Earth’s growth over the past two decades. From its UK start-up roots, Whole Earth Food has risen to become a leading brand in Europe.
Ecotone’s chief executive emphasised that the sale to KP Snacks is a testament to Whole Earth’s sustained growth and success, marking an exciting new chapter for the brand. The acquisition, they added, will enable Whole Earth to continue investing in its future, supported by the resources and expertise of KP Snacks.
What’s more, Ecotone, which also owns brands like Clipper, Isola Bio, and Kallo, has consistently upheld its commitment to high standards of sustainability and quality – a philosophy highlighted by the firm’s UK chief executive during a recent podcast on leadership and ethical business practices.
To conclude, as KP Snacks welcomes Whole Earth Food into its fold, the company anticipates a productive integration process, though specific details are yet to be revealed. This acquisition not only strengthens KP Snacks’ presence in the health-focused segment of the market but also reinforces its commitment to sustainable growth.
Together, KP Snacks and Whole Earth Food are set to offer consumers an expanded range of delicious, healthier products, signalling an exciting evolution for both brands in the UK and beyond.
