Creamline Dairies Expands with Six-Figure Deal

Creamline Dairies, headquartered in Trafford Park, is gearing up for a significant expansion across the North West, with a six-figure deal to acquire a portion of Liverpool-based Morton Dairies

The two companies have exchanged contracts, and the deal is expected to complete in November 2024.

Once finalised, Creamline will integrate three new depots, 56 staff members, and four additional franchises into its existing operations, further cementing its status as a leading dairy and grocery home delivery service in the region.

This acquisition marks a major milestone for Creamline, allowing the company to serve an additional 15,000 households and over 450 businesses, bringing Chester and the Wirral into its network.

The expansion complements its already strong foothold in Trafford, Eccles, Warrington, Kendal, and Stockport, while also introducing new communities in Ashton in Makerfield.

Led by brothers-in-law Chris Swallow and Rob Purvis since 1994, Creamline has grown from a 35-round dairy business into a North West powerhouse. With the Morton deal, the company’s team will grow to 310 employees, operating across seven depots, and is forecasted to achieve an impressive turnover of £45 million over the next 12 months.

Swallow expressed their excitement about the acquisition, which aligns with Creamline’s long-standing commitment to community, quality, and heritage. This is an important step in their growth strategy, emphasising Creamline’s dedication to being the most consistently successful independent dairy company in Britain.

Furthermore, the company’s mission is to excel in service, product quality, and profitability, and bringing Morton Dairies into the fold will strengthen Creamline’s ability to serve both local businesses and consumers.

The deal comes as Creamline celebrates 10 years of online trading, an area the company intends to focus on as it looks to the future. Swallow hinted at plans to expand its ecommerce offerings, including the launch of a B2B online service and a consumer-facing app.

Creamline’s unique combination of digital convenience paired with reliable doorstep service has been a key to its success, and the acquisition of Morton Dairies is seen as an opportunity to bring that winning formula to more communities across the North West.

Since launching its “Best of Local” grocery service in 2014, Creamline has remained committed to delivering high-quality local produce to local customers. With the Morton deal, that commitment will now extend to new customers in the Wirral and Chester, further expanding Creamline’s presence and reinforcing its role as a key player in the region’s dairy and grocery industry.

What’s more, this acquisition builds on Creamline’s earlier success, including the £1.15 million purchase of Dairy Crest’s North West depot-based delivery business in 2013, further solidifying its growth trajectory.

In conclusion, Creamline Dairies’ acquisition of Morton Dairies not only broadens its geographical footprint but also reinforces its strategy of growth through quality service, community focus, and innovation

With the addition of new depots, staff, and franchises, Creamline is poised for an exciting year ahead, building on its rich heritage while embracing modern digital solutions to enhance its service offering.
